Most people read the Chariot as pure victory, but what stands out to me is the city behind him and the fact that his two sphinxes have no reins attaching them to the chariot at all. He’s got stars in his canopy and moons on his shoulders — he’s in perfect alignment with what he wants.
The sphinxes represent the mysteries of the universe, and because he’s in alignment, the universe is going to carry him to where he needs to go — probably away from where he came from. So a lot of the time the Chariot is about needing to become more unique or follow your own path, because your success isn’t going to look like anyone else’s.
