Most people read this card as powerlessness or being a victim, and I don’t. She’s only seeing one way of doing things when there are many, and that puts the whole thing back in your hands. Look at where she’s standing. It’s a very shallow pool of water. She could walk out of it whenever she wanted. The bindings are hers as well, so this is self-imposed restriction, holding yourself back. And I always say the Seven of Swords is the solution to the Eight of Swords, because that card is the one about finding the option nobody is looking at. One is the trap and the other is the way out.
