The Moon

the-moon tarot card

  • Illusion, fear, the subconscious
  • Staying on your path despite anxiety
  • Balancing your wild and domestic sides
In a reading: don’t let fear or illusion pull you off your path; keep going even without full clarity.

Nowhere on the Moon does it say stop — even though a lot of people read it that way. The mountains in the background can be an obstacle, but mountains in tarot usually mean achievement; you get the best view from the top, even if the climb makes you sweat.

The two pillars are a warning not to get pulled off your path by an illusion, and the dog and the wolf represent your domestic side and your wild side needing to balance out. There’s also a lobster, which is your emotional armor — sometimes you have to set it down to actually move forward and find success.
