Something is being held onto harder than it’s worth. Ask what that grip is costing you.
The point of the Four of Pentacles is that what he’s holding on to, and what he’s afraid of letting go of, is not very much. The grip is out of proportion to the prize. And there’s a specific cost attached: by holding on so tightly to those four pentacles, he’s preventing himself from having the Ten of Pentacles or something better. That’s a straight trade. It doesn’t have to be money either, it’s often a job or a relationship that’s become limiting. I’ll say though that not everything about this card is a warning. Sometimes it really means focus on your foundation and secure your base first.
